Creating a Safe & Calm Dental Experience for Every Patient
Compassionate Care for Those with Dental Anxiety
For many people, going to the dentist is just another item on the to-do list. But for others, the thought of sitting in the dental chair can bring on racing thoughts, sweaty palms, or even sleepless nights. At Montana Dental Works, we understand that dental anxiety is real—and it can keep you from getting the care you need to stay healthy. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to create an environment where you feel safe, respected, and in control every step of the way.

"Dental anxiety is real.."
"Before becoming a dentist, I had the privilege of working with patients in both national and international mission settings, where trust and compassion were just as important as the care itself. Those experiences taught me that dentistry is about people first, not procedures. I understand how real dental anxiety can be, and I never take that lightly. My approach is to listen first, move gently, and make sure you always feel heard and safe. We’ll go at your pace, with no pressure—so each visit feels less intimidating and more like a step forward you can be proud of."

Sedation Options at Montana Dental Works
We know that visiting the dentist can be a source of stress for many patients. That’s why we offer a variety of safe, effective sedation options—so you can get the care you need without fear or discomfort. Each option is tailored to your level of anxiety, the complexity of your procedure, and your personal comfort preferences.
Laughing Gas
Also known as inhalation sedation, laughing gas is a mild, fast-acting option that helps you feel calm and relaxed throughout your visit. You’ll remain awake and able to communicate, but any nervousness or tension fades into the background. The effects wear off quickly after treatment, so you can safely drive yourself home.
Best for: Patients with mild anxiety, children, or those needing a quick recovery after their appointment.
Oral Conscious Sedation
This option uses a small pill taken before your appointment to help you feel deeply relaxed. While you’ll still be awake and able to respond to your dental team, you may feel drowsy and have little memory of the procedure afterward. Because the effects last longer, you’ll need someone to drive you to and from your appointment.
Best for: Patients with moderate anxiety or those undergoing longer or more involved dental treatments.
IV Sedation Options
For patients with high dental anxiety or for complex, lengthy procedures, IV sedation provides the deepest level of relaxation available in our office. This method allows medication to be administered directly into your bloodstream, giving you a calm, dream-like state while still keeping you safely responsive. Our highly trained team closely monitors you throughout the entire procedure.
Best for: Patients with severe anxiety, sensitive gag reflexes, or those needing multiple treatments in a single visit.
Why We Take Dental Anxiety Seriously
Avoiding dental care due to fear or anxiety can have serious consequences for your oral and overall health. Small problems, like minor cavities or gum irritation, can quickly become bigger, more complex issues if left untreated. But it’s not just about your teeth—it’s about your quality of life. Living with untreated dental problems can affect your ability to eat comfortably, speak clearly, and smile with confidence.
Our role is to break that cycle by giving you an experience that changes the way you think about dentistry—one where you feel understood, supported, and never rushed.
A Calm, Welcoming Atmosphere from the Moment You Arrive
We’ve designed our office to feel less like a clinic and more like a warm, welcoming space. From our friendly front desk team to the soothing colors and natural light in our treatment rooms, every detail is meant to put you at ease.
You’ll notice:
-
A quiet, uncluttered environment that feels open and peaceful
-
Comfortable seating and a welcoming reception area
-
Gentle background music or calming white noise
-
A team that greets you by name and remembers your preferences
-
Private treatment rooms for a more personal, relaxed experience
Comfort & Relaxation Options
We offer several ways to help you feel more relaxed and at ease during treatment, including options that can help calm your nerves, reduce discomfort, and make time in the chair feel shorter. Whether you’re having a simple cleaning or a more complex procedure, we can tailor the level of support you receive so you feel completely comfortable throughout your visit.

You’re Always in Control
Perhaps the most important thing we can offer is control. You decide when we start, when we pause, and when we’re finished. We’ll never pressure you into moving faster than you’re ready for.
Our goal is simple: by the end of your visit, we want you to walk out the door thinking, “That wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected.” And over time, we hope you’ll feel comfortable enough to make dental care a regular, stress-free part of your life.
Gentle Techniques, Modern Tools
It’s not just the atmosphere that matters—it’s also the way we deliver care. We use:
-
Advanced imaging to plan treatments precisely, reducing time in the chair
-
Modern, minimally invasive techniques that preserve healthy tissue and speed recovery
-
Specialized instruments that work quietly and efficiently, reducing the sounds and sensations that can trigger anxiety
