Dental Exams, X-rays & Cleanings

We strongly believe that it’s always best to prevent any dental disease before it starts, which is why we encourage our patients to visit us for routine exams, x-rays, and dental cleanings. These checkups allow our hygienists to determine the health of your gums and supporting bone structures, while also performing a thorough cleaning to remove tartar that develops on your teeth.

Our Kalispell dentists will also examine your teeth and x-rays to check for cavities and assess your overall dental health, while also completing an oral cancer screening.

Periodontal Health

Sometimes, active periodontal disease (commonly known as gum disease) will be discovered during your exam. This condition develops due to an overgrowth of bacteria in your mouth, specifically affecting your gums. When left untreated, gum disease can lead to soreness, bleeding gums, bad breath, and eventual bone loss around your teeth. This bone loss can result in your teeth becoming loose and even falling out.

We offer treatments for all stages of gum disease, which often includes scaling and root planing (“deep cleaning”) to remove the bacterial buildup from your teeth and gums.

Restorations/Fillings

If cavities are detected on your x-rays or during your dental exam, we’ll treat them by removing the diseased portion of the tooth and replacing it with a tooth-colored filling. This is a routine procedure that most patients will go through at some point in their lifetime. We use customized composite fillings at our practice to ensure a stunning appearance and long-lasting results.

Extractions

If a tooth is beyond repair due to a large cavity, fracture, or infection, extraction may be necessary. Dr. McAllister performs routine and surgical extractions in our office, using anesthesia to ensure a pain-free experience. For added convenience, he also offers bone grafts to strengthen your jaw and dental implants to replace your missing tooth.
